Man With a Movie Camera (1929)

A casual spot of Russian Constructivist film-making. Dziga Vertov documents the seemingly uniform, machine-like society, scanning the undistinguished crowds that mill the streets and circle the vast industrial landscapes. They are the cogs - faceless and equal. But not that equal. The film moves on to the Russian bourgeoisie, those who could afford leisure, and ultimately an identity.

LOLs, how serious? It was pretty epic though and clearly very influential on the likes of Dali, Luis Bunuel, Michael Powell, Godard and even Terence Malick. Watch it.
