My Generation

Natalia Vodianova by Mert & Marcus, Vogue US September 2011 (via Fashion Gone Rogue)

This editorial really reminds me of the 1964 film The System, one of Oliver Reed's early films. It completely epitomises the moddish 60s with the aid of Grace Coddington's styling and Sam Riley's quintessential good looks. Does anyone remember the band 10,000 Things? No I didn't think so. Sam Riley was the lead singer but they unfortunately didn't make much of an impression on the music industry. Sam Riley, however, certainly left an impression on Helen and I. I think we saw them three times in 2004... we even spoke to young Sam, he seemed a nice enough chap but was somewhat disinterested by us over-enthusiastic drunken teens. Too cool and aloof, and that.
