The Dark Side of the Sun

Paul Davies - Modern Home Copy, Green Sky 2008

Is it just me or is there an uncanny resemblance between Paul Davies' work and the iconic Hockney, A Bigger Splash? Literature on Davies claims that his work achieves an emotive calm and a feeling of tranquilty within the domestic exteriors and structure. I think far from it. This example looks like the polar opposite to Hockney's 1960s paradise - it's the trudge and gloom of the post-glamorised, dystopian-esq Hollywood machine. Or at least that's what I thought.
